New Joiner Promotions: November 2022, Terms and Conditions

Join Virgin Active between 1 and 30 November 2022 (both dates included), train at Virgin Active 4 times in your first 30 days of membership and qualify for 2 months on us, i.e. January and February 2023.

  • New joiners (hereinafter referred to as “members”) taking up a Virgin Active membership will receive 2 months on us, i.e. January and February 2023, provided they meet the following qualifying criteria:
    • Joining on an adult 1 or 2 year membership between 1 and 30 November 2022 (both dates included); and
    • Training a minimum of 4 times on separate days in the required period 30 days after their date of joining * see detailed cut-off dates
    • And having a successful debit order payment in respect of December’s membership fees.
  • Pro-rata membership fees will not be payable for November 2022, i.e. November is on us.
  • No access card / device fees are payable for joiners in November 2022.
  • The members’ first debit order will be for fees in respect of December 2022.
  • Virgin Active will not debit qualifying members in respect of membership fees for January and February 2023.
  • The members’ December 2022 debit order must be successful on first attempt in order for them to qualify for the waiver of January and February membership fees.
  • If the member’s chosen debit order date is not the 1st of the month, then the debit order for the membership fees for December 2022 will run on the specified date in November 2022 as per the membership agreement.
  • Members paying cash upfront, not via debit order, will pay for 12 months upfront and receive the remainder of November 2022 on us. They will also receive an additional 2 months of membership for free, added to the end of their contract period, provided they meet the qualifying criteria.
  • The relevant membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership system by no later than 30 November 2022.
  • This offer is not applicable to short term, 3-month, complimentary, Vitality Legacy Club, Virgin Active staff or tenant memberships.
  • Existing members upgrading to Collection Club status qualify for this offer, as well as new joiners at Collection Clubs.
  • This offer will only apply if the member’s Virgin Active account is in good standing and not in arrears.
  • This campaign is applicable to existing members who are members in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
  • The member’s contract must not be cancelled or terminated within the residual cooling-off period or the initial commitment period stipulated in the membership contract, in order to qualify for the free months.
  • This promotional offer cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate.
  • Facilities and group classes may differ from Club to Club.
  • Should a member elect to “freeze” (i.e. suspend) their membership contract in the first month of joining while this promotional campaign is running, the free months will not be carried over.

* Detailed cut-off dates: If your chosen debit order day is:

  • 15th – train 4 x times before the 13th December to qualify for January and February no charge.
  • 20th – train 4 x times before the 15th December to qualify for January and February at no charge.
  • 25th – train 4 times before the 20th December to qualify for January  and February at no charge.
  • 28th – train 4 times before the 23rd December to qualify for January and February at  no charge.
  • Last Day of the month – train 4 times before the 31st of December to qualify for February and March at no charge.
  • First Day of the month – train 4 times before the 23rd December  to qualify for January and February at no charge.

 

Join Virgin Active as a Discovery Vitality member between 1 and 30 November 2022 (both dates included), train at Virgin Active 4 times in your first 30 days of membership and qualify for 2 months on us, i.e.  January and February 2023. 

 

  • New joiners taking up a Virgin Active membership from 1 to 30 November 2022 (both dates inclusive), in terms of an adult 1 year Vitality membership, pay relevant activation fees in November 2022 and start paying membership fees in respect of the month of December 2022.
  • In addition, new joiners will receive 2 months on us, i.e. January and February 2023, provided they meet the following qualifying criteria:
    • Joining on an adult Virgin Active Vitality membership between 1 to 30 November 2022 (both dates included); and
    • Training a minimum of 4 times on separate days in the 30 days after their date of joining * See detailed cut off dates.
    • And having a successful debit order payment in respect of December’s membership fees.
  • No November 2022 pro-rata membership fees are payable.
  • No access card / device fees are payable for joiners in November 2022.
  • The members’ first debit order deduction will only be for fees in respect of November 2022.
  • Virgin Active will not debit qualifying members in respect of membership fees for January and February 2023.
  • The members’ December 2022 debit order must be successful on first attempt in order for them to qualify for the waiver of January and February membership fees.
  • New rates apply from January 2023.
  • This offer includes members taking up Collection Club membership and existing members upgrading to Collection Club status.
  • The membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership loading system by no later than 30 November 2022 in order to qualify.
  • When joining through the Discovery Bank app, there will be no gym activation fee. Members joining Virgin Active from November 2022 until the new benefit goes live in 2023, will get their activation fee refunded in Discovery Miles if they set up their monthly Virgin Active debit order and pay the activation fee from a Discovery Bank account.
  • Subject to confirmation of valid Discovery Vitality membership.

  • *Detailed cut-off dates: Virgin Active Vitality members are debited on the first day of the month:
  • First Day of the month – train 4 times before the 23rd December to qualify for January and February at no charge.

 

 

Exclusions from these promotional offers:

 

  • With the sole exception of the abovementioned upgrade to Collection Club status, these offers do not include: (i) intergrades (i.e. upgrades, downgrades and/or interclub transfers), or (ii) any changes occurring within the same/existing membership contract.
  • These offers are not applicable to members joining via a short term, complimentary, Virgin Active staff or tenant membership.
  • All Junior Memberships (e.g. Under 18 and Club V / Club V Max membership products) will not qualify for these offers.
  • These offers are excluded from membership conversions of any kind if a member’s prior membership is still within the commitment period of the prior contract.
  • Members who have had a prior membership at Virgin Active will need to have a clean membership history that was/is in good standing (i.e. no previous or current arrears and/or poor disciplinary record), in order to qualify for these offers.
  • If the member has cancelled their Virgin Active membership (for example, but not necessarily limited to, cancellation within the legally permitted cooling-off periods) then they will not be eligible for the free months.
  • These promotional offers cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate.
  • Facilities and group classes may differ from Club to Club.
  • Should a member elect to “freeze” (i.e. suspend) their membership contract while this promotional campaign is running, the free month will not be carried over.

U14, Club-V and Club-V Max offers for November 2022:

 

Join Virgin Active on an U14 or Club-V / Club-V Max membership type between 1 and 30 November 2022 (both dates included) and pay no upfront fees: 

  • New joiners (hereinafter referred to as “members”) taking up an U14 membership type or Club-V / Club-V Max membership pay no upfront fees i.e. no joining fee, no access card / device fee and no pro rata membership fee for November 2022. 
  • This offer is available to all corporate memberships, including Virgin Active’s wellness and/or rewards partners.
  • Prior to signing up, children are eligible for 2 free guests visits to Club-V (6 weeks to 7 years) and Club-V Max (6 weeks to 13 years).
  • Any child signed up in the period 1 to 30 November 2022, gets a free Swim Assessment at participating Clubs.

Terms and Conditions: Virgin Active parents “bring your child to Club-V for 2 free visits”

  • Between 1 – 30 November 2022 (both dates inclusive), Virgin Active invites parents to bring their child/children to Club-V or Club-V Max for 2 free visits.
  • This includes 2 free visits for the accompanying parent if they are not a Virgin Active member.

 

If the parent is not a current Virgin Active member:

First visit:

  • Parents who are not current Virgin Active members, arriving at the club, will be required to complete a guest register process for themselves and their child/ren.
  • Parents must bring their ID document with them
  • Once inside the club, parents may bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in there.

Second visit:

  • Parents who are not Virgin Active members, bringing their child/ren for their second visit, can enter the club for the 2nd time and final time using their ID.
  • Parents will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon entering the club, as well as the guest register for themselves.
  • Once inside the club, parents may bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in.

 

If the parent is a current Virgin Active member:

First visit:

  • Parents who are current Virgin Active members, arriving at the club, will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon club entry.
  • Once inside the club, parents may bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in.

 

Second visit:

  • Parents who are Virgin Active members, bringing their child/ren for their second visit, will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon club entry.
  • Once inside the club, parents may bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in.

 

Adult, Club-V and U14 offer – Swim Assessment

Join Virgin Active in November 2022 and qualify for a free Swim Assessment: 

  • All members joining at select Virgin Active Health Clubs in November 2022, qualify for a free Swim Assessment conducted by the resident Swim Coach to assess the members level of swimming competency, and advise on coaching required to improve the members swimming level. 
  • This offer is available to all new Adult members as well as children joining on U18 and Club-V/Club-V Max membership products. 
  • The list of the 128 participating Clubs is attached. 
  • The resident Swim Coach will contact all new joiners and set up a time for the complimentary appointment. 
  • The member will be required to swim in this session and the entire session will last around 20 to 30 minutes.
