What is the Virgin Active x HYROX partnership?

Virgin Active is now the official title sponsor of HYROX in South Africa.

All 128 Virgin Active clubs are official HYROX affiliate partners.

This means:

Members can train for HYROX in our clubs

HYROX-style equipment and training will be available

Some clubs will run simulations and events

Coaches will be trained in HYROX standards

How does this benefit me as a member?

Members will get:

Structured HYROX-style training in club

Club-based HYROX simulations and events (in selected clubs)

Clear training pathways if they want to compete

48-hour early access to HYROX race entries

Coaching aligned to HYROX standards

Do I have to compete in HYROX?

No.
HYROX training is for everyone. Competing is optional. Many members may simply enjoy the training style, structure, and community.

Will every club offer the same HYROX experience?

Clubs will be grouped into tiers to ensure quality delivery.

For example:

Some clubs will run full HYROX simulations

Some will run dedicated HYROX training days

Some will integrate HYROX movements into existing Strength & Conditioning classes

Not all clubs will look the same — and that is intentional.

Are we adding a brand-new HYROX class everywhere?

Not necessarily.

Instead:

Clubs with Strength & Conditioning (S&C) will introduce HYROX-focused training days

Programming will follow HYROX movement standards

Some clubs may offer HYROX-specific training blocks or sessions

Is HYROX just another HIIT class?

No.

HYROX training includes:

Strength

Endurance

Running

Engine work

Movement efficiency

It is structured, progressive, and performance-based — not random high-intensity training.

When are HYROX events happening in South Africa?

The 2026 HYROX South Africa calendar is expected to follow a multi-city format, with events typically hosted in major metros.

Indicative 2026 Event Windows (to be confirmed):

3-5 April 2026: Cape Town, South Africa

30 & 31 May 2026: Johannesburg, South Africa

14 & 15 August 2026: Cape Town, South Africa

28-29 November 2026: Johannesburg, South Africa

HYROX is about inclusion and progression.

What does 48-hour early access mean?

Virgin Active members will get access to race entries 48 hours before the general public sales open.

This helps members secure spots before races sell out. - It does not provide a discount.

Does Virgin Active choose who gets entries?

No.
It is still first-come, first-served — members just get earlier access.

Do members get discounted race entries?

At this stage, early access is confirmed.
Any discount details will be communicated if applicable.

Can the club register me for the event?

No, each person needs to register themselves and pay for their entry

I registered but did not receive a confirmation email. What should I do?

Have you personalized your entry? A ticket is not valid until the personalization process is complete after purchasing your ticket.

Yes. Coaching education will be rolled out to ensure:

Is HYROX replacing LIFTCLUB or other classes?

No.
HYROX complements our current offering. It enhances Strength & Conditioning, LIFTCLUB, and functional training — it does not replace them.

Is HYROX suitable for beginners?

Yes. Workouts can be scaled. Members can start at their own level.

Is there an extra cost to do HYROX training in club?

No. HYROX training forms part of the existing membership offering.

Will we get new equipment?

Some clubs will receive HYROX-specific equipment depending on tier and space. Rollout timelines will be shared once confirmed.
