At Virgin Active, we continuously assess the feasibility and long-term sustainability of our clubs to ensure they align with our evolving vision of wellness and the needs of our members.

Following a comprehensive review, Virgin Active has reached the decision that Boksburg RED is no longer commercially viable to operate in a way that meets the standards of future-fit clubs. While refurbishment was considered, the level of investment required, particularly in the current economic climate, would not deliver a sustainable or long-term solution for our members or the business.

As part of our responsibility to invest meaningfully and sustainably, we have chosen to prioritise developments that deliver greater long-term value and relevance for our members.

While we understand that this decision may be disappointing, it reflects our commitment to providing high-quality, future-focused wellness environments. We will continue to support our members through this transition and ensure access to alternative facilities within our network.

We sincerely appreciate the support of our members and remain committed to delivering exceptional wellness experiences across our clubs.

Boksburg RED will permanently close its doors on  31 August 2026. We understand this may be disappointing, and we’re here to support you in finding the best option that suits your needs.

You have a few options available to by made by 3 August 2026.

1.Special Offer Take up a special offer for a limited period and pay R800 per month that allows you to access both Boksburg K90 and Sunward Park.

2. Recommit to another 12 month initial period.  Take up this recommitment offer for a new initial period of 12 months and pay R750 per month that allows you to access both Boksburg K90 and Sunward Park.

3. Transfer to any other Virgin Active club.  For a limited time period (1 July to 31 August 2026) we will transfer your existing membership free of charge (waiver all admin and transfer fees) to the club of your choice.  The club specific rate for that club will be applicable as your new monthly instalment, that will start on transfer.

Try out other clubs

From 1 July to 31 August, you’ll have open access to all Virgin Active clubs (excluding Collection and Country Collection clubs), so you can explore and decide what works best for you.

For Premier members

If Boksburg RED is your home club, you also have the option to:

• Downgrade to a club membership or
• Choose to train at a specific club

This can be done free of charge, as long as it’s completed by 3 August 2026.
