New Joiner Promotions: September 2024 Terms and Conditions

SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN #1: Join Virgin Active between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included), download the Virgin Active App, train at Virgin Active 4 times in both October and November 2024, and be in good standing, and get September 2024 on us plus up to 50% off the next 3 months of membership fees:  

  • If you join Virgin Active on a new 1 year or 2 year membership between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included) then you could enjoy discounted membership fees as set out below, provided that you meet the following qualifying criteria:  
  1. You sign up for a new adult 1 year or 2 year membership between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included)
  2. You download the Virgin Active App within 30 calendar days of joining Virgin Active; 
  3. You pay your joining fee (if applicable) and / or activation fee for Discovery Vitality members (if applicable) in September 2024; 
  4. You are in good standing on your Virgin Active membership account; and 
  5. You train a minimum of 4 times on separate days, in both October 2024 and November 2024 (i.e., four times in each calendar month) during the required period (*see detailed cut-off dates). 

  • Qualifying members will receive 30% discount of October’s membership fees, plus a chance to receive a 60% discount in both November and December 2024.  
  • In summary: Download the Virgin Active App, be in good standing, and train 4 times in October and 4 times in November in order to enjoy the discounted membership fees in November and December 2024, respectively. 
    • i.e. in October 2024, have the Virgin Active App on your phone, be in good standing on your Virgin Active membership account, train 4 times in October 2024 on 4 separate days and earn your next discount - pay 40% of your monthly membership fee for November 2024, I.e., a 60% discount.  
    • i.e. in November 2024, have the Virgin Active App on your phone, be in good standing on your Virgin Active membership account, train 4 times in November on 4 separate days and earn your next discount - pay 40% of your monthly membership fee for December 2024, I.e., a 60% discount.  
    • If you do not train 4 times in October 2024, then you do not qualify for a discount of your fees for November 2024.  
    • If you do not train 4 times in November 24, then you do not qualify for a discount of your fees for December 2024 
  • Members paying their membership fees in full and up front for 12 or 24 months (i.e., not via debit order) will receive an additional one month, or two months, of membership for free added to the end of their contract period on condition that they have met the qualifying criteria.

OR SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN #2: Join Virgin Active on a Premier membership between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included), be in good standing, and get a 25% discount on monthly membership fees for the first 5 months of your membership: 

  • If you join on an adult 1 year or 2 year Premier Membership between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included) then you could receive a 25% discount on the first 5 months of your membership fees, provided that you meet the following qualifying criteria during the first 5 months of your membership: 
  1. You are in good standing on your Virgin Active membership account; 
  • If   you are no longer in good standing, then the 25% discount falls away entirely and you will be liable for the full membership fee for that month and the remaining months thereafter of the first 5 months of your membership. 
  • Not applicable to new members joining on Premier Select or Premier Youth products. 
  • No training requirements associated with this offer, and you do not have to download the Virgin Active App. 
  • This offer is available to wellness and corporate partner members. 

General clauses applicable to September CAMPAIGNS #1 and #2 in September 2024, as per the above: 

  • You cannot get both offers, i.e., up to 50% discount over October to December 2024 and 25% off a Premier Membership. You must choose between one of these two campaigns above.  
  • Pro-rata membership fees will not be payable for September 2024 (i.e. April is on us).  
  • No access card / device fees are payable for joiners in September 2024. 
  • Joining fees are applicable (R199 for public joiners on all membership types) and applicable activation fee for Discovery Vitality members. 
  • Your first debit order will be for monthly membership fees in respect of October 2024. 
  • If you have chosen a debit order date that is not the 1st of the month, then the debit order for the membership fees for October 2024 will run on the specified date in September 2024 as per the membership agreement.  
  • The relevant membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership system by no later than 30 September 2024 in order to qualify. 
  • These two offers are not applicable to short term, 3-month, complimentary, Vitality Legacy Club, Virgin Active staff, or tenant memberships.  
  • Existing members upgrading to Collection Club status qualify for these offers, as well as, new joiners at Collection Clubs
  • These offers will only apply if the member’s Virgin Active account is in good standing and not in arrears. 
  • These offers also apply to corporate members including those joining via Discovery Vitality and are subject to confirmation of valid Discovery Vitality membership. Visit www.discovery.co.za to join Vitality. 
  • Your contract must not be cancelled or terminated within the residual cooling-off period, or the initial commitment period stipulated in the membership contract, in order to qualify for the free and / or discounted months.  

SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN #3: Join Virgin Active in Namibia or Botswana and receive a limited-edition Virgin Active gym bag: 

  • If you join Virgin Active on a new 1 year or 2 year membership between 1 September 2024 and 30 September 2024 (both days inclusive) in either Namibia at VA Maerua Mall or VA Kleine Kuppe, or in Botswana at VA Airport Junction, and receive a limited-edition Virgin Active gym bag if you meet the following criteria: 
  1. You join on a new adult 1 year or 2 year membership OR a Youth 14–17 year-olds between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included); and 
  2. Bags available while stocks last.  
  • Junior Memberships (e.g., Under 18s-, 7-13- and Club V / Club V Max membership products) do NOT qualify for this offer. 
  • This offer is not applicable to new joiners in South African clubs. 

 

Exclusions from these promotional offers as set out in SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGNS #1, #2 AND #3 for September 2024 above

  • Except for Collection Club upgrades and conversions, outside of the initial period, no existing member can qualify for these promotions.  
  • These offers are not applicable to members joining via a short term, complimentary, Virgin Active staff, or tenant membership. 
  • These offers are excluded from membership conversions of any kind if a member’s prior membership is still within the commitment period of the prior contract.  
  • Members who have had a prior membership at Virgin Active will need to have a clean membership history that was/is in good standing (i.e., no previous or current arrears and/or poor disciplinary record) to qualify for these offers.  
  • If the member has cancelled their Virgin Active membership (for example, but not necessarily limited to, cancellation within the legally permitted cooling-off periods) then they will not be eligible for the free and / or discounted months as specified in these offers. 
  • These promotional offers cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate. 
  • Facilities and group classes may differ from Club to Club. 
  • Should a member elect to “freeze” (i.e., suspend) their membership contract while this promotional campaign is running (i.e., from 1 September 2024), the free and / or discounted months will cease and / or will not be carried over. 


SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN #4 U14, Club-V and Club-V Max offers for September 2024: 

Join Virgin Active on an U14 or Club-V / Club-V Max membership type between 1 and 30 September 2024 (both dates included) and pay no membership fees for September 2024:  

  • If you join on an U14 membership type or Club-V / Club-V Max membership between 1 September and 30 September 2024 (both dates inclusive) then you will not be required to pay any upfront fees (i.e., no joining fees, no access card / device fees, and no pro rata membership fees) for September 2024 plus receive a free Swim Assessment at participating Clubs. 
  • This offer is available to all corporate memberships, including Virgin Active’s wellness and/or rewards partners. 
  • The free Swim Assessment is strictly only at participating Clubs and must be taken up within a month of joining 

SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN #5: Virgin Active parents “bring your child to Club-V for 2 free visits” 

  • Between 1 – 30 September 2024 (both dates inclusive), Virgin Active invites parents and / or legal guardians to bring their child/children to Club-V or Club-V Max for two free visits. 
  • Parents and /or guardians do not have to be a Virgin Active member. 
  • Children must be between the ages of 6 weeks to 13 years.  

If the parent or legal guardian is not a current Virgin Active member, then 

  • Parents or legal guardians arriving at the Club will be required to complete a guest register process for themselves and their child/ren for each visit at the Club. 
  • Parents must bring their original identity document or driver’s license, plus proof that they are the biological parent or legal guardian of every child with them for each visit at the Club. 
  • Once inside the club, parents or legal guardians may bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and will be required to sign them in there. 
  • Parents or legal guardians will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon entering the club, as well as the guest register for themselves. 

If the parent is a current Virgin Active member, then: 

  • Parents or legal guardians who are current Virgin Active members, arriving at the Club, will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon club entry. 
  • Parents must provide proof that they are the biological parent or legal guardian of every child with them for each visit at the Club. 
  • Once inside the club, parents or legal guardians may bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and will be required to sign them in there. 

 

SEPTEMBER CAMPAIGN #6: Adult, Club-V and U14 offer – Swim Assessment 

Join Virgin Active in September 2024 and qualify for a free Swim Assessment:  

  • If you join Virgin Active on any membership during the month of September 2024, then you will qualify for a free Swim Assessment conducted by the resident Swim Coach to assess your level of swimming competency and advise on coaching required to improve your swimming level.  
  • This offer is available to all new adult members as well as children joining on U18 and Club-V/Club-V Max membership products, only at certain participating Clubs.  
  • The resident Swim Coach will contact all new joiners and set up a time for the complimentary appointment and this must be taken up within a month of joining Virgin Active.  
  • You will be required to swim (i.e., get into the swimming pool) during this session and the entire session will last around 20 to 30 minutes. This Swim Assessment session can be for the child or the adult member.
