      New Joiner Promotions: May 2023, Terms and Conditions

      Join Virgin Active between 1 and 31 May 2023 (both dates included) and take advantage of one of the following new joiner offers

      Join Virgin Active between 1 and 31 May 2023 (both dates included) on a Club membership type and enjoy an upgrade to Premier member status for your first 3 months of membership and in addition receive a free smoothie:

      • New joiners taking up a Club one or two year membership type (hereinafter referred to as “members”), will receive 3 months of Premier status access at no extra charge, i.e. for the rest of May, June, July and August 2023, these members will enjoy Premier access and only pay for their Club rates. The membership will revert to its original Club membership status from 1 September 2023.
      • Applicable joining fee applies, i.e. R199 (for Clubs with a price point of R599 monthly fee and below) or R299 (for Clubs with a price point of R600 per month and above) in May 2023.
      • Pro-rata membership fees will not be payable for May 2023, i.e., May is on us and will also allow for Premier access at Club Peak rates.
      • No access card / device fees are payable for joiners in May 2023.

      • The members’ first debit order will be for fees in respect of June 2023.
      • Members paying cash upfront, not via debit order, will receive the remainder of May, June, July and August as Premier access for the rates of Club.
      • The relevant membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership system by no later than 31 May 2023.
      • This offer is not applicable to Off Peak, Premier, short term, 3-month, complimentary, Vitality Legacy Club, Virgin Active staff or tenant memberships.
      • This offer is also not applicable to members joining at Virgin Active RED value Clubs, refer to special offer for these Clubs.
      • This offer is extended to members joining via any corporate discount or wellness scheme offer.
      • This offer is not applicable to existing members upgrading to Collection Club status or new joiners at Virgin Active Collection Clubs.
      • This campaign is not applicable to members joining in Namibia and Botswana.
      • No Inter-Club transfers will be allowed in the first 6 months of membership for members joining on this offer and no downgrades will be allowed for these memberships eg from Club to Off Peak status in the first 6 months of membership.
      • This offer will only apply if the member’s Virgin Active account is in good standing and not in arrears, if the members first debit order is not successful, then this offer is not continued.
      • This promotional offer cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate.

      • Should a member elect to “freeze” (i.e. suspend) their membership contract in the first month of joining while this promotional campaign is running, the Premier access will not be carried over.

      Join Virgin Active between 1 and 31 May (both dates included) on a Premier or Premier Select membership type and enjoy a 50% reduction on your agreed fees for your first 3 months of membership and receive a free smoothie:

       

      • New joiners taking up any one or two year Premier or Premier Select membership type (hereinafter referred to as “members”) will receive 3 months of full Premier status access at a 50% discount, i.e. for the rest of May, June, July and August 2023, these members will enjoy Premier access and only pay 50% of their agreed rates for June, July and August. The membership will revert to its original Premier or Premier Select product membership rates from 1 September 2023.
      • Applicable joining fee applies, i.e. R199 (for Clubs with a price point of R599 monthly fee and below) or R299 (for Clubs with a price point of R600 per month and above) in May 2023.
      • Pro-rata membership fees will not be payable for May 2023, i.e. May is on us.

      • Members paying cash upfront, not via debit order, will receive the remainder of May on us and their membership will be extended by 2 months at no extra charge, i.e. pay for 12 months and receive 14, initial membership commitment period is May to May 2024 and June and July 2024 will be added at no extra charge to extend the membership term.
      • Should you cancel your membership / contract at any stage during your Commitment Period, you will be liable for a reasonable cancellation fee which will be calculated as follows: (i) you paying back the full 3 months’ rebate received from us under this promotion; plus (ii) you paying us our standard cancellation rate from time to time.
      • The relevant membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership system by no later than 31 May 2023.
      • This offer is not applicable to Youth Premier memberships, Club, Off Peak, short term, 3-month, complimentary, Vitality Legacy Club, Virgin Active staff or tenant memberships.

      Join Virgin Active as a Discovery Vitality member between 1 and 31 May 2023 (both dates included) and receive the following offer: 

       

      • New joiners taking up a Virgin Active membership from 1 to 31 May 2023 (both dates inclusive), in terms of an adult 1 year Vitality membership, pay relevant activation fees in May 2023 and start paying membership fees in respect of the month of June 2023.
      • In addition, new joiners taking up a Club status membership type receive Premier access for the months of May, May, May and July at no extra cost and new joiners taking up a Premier or Premier Select status membership type receive 3 months of full Premier status access at a further 50% discount, i.e. for the rest of May, June, July and August 2023, these members will enjoy Premier access and only pay 50% of their already discounted agreed rates. The membership will revert to its original Club, Premier or Premier Select status and membership rates from 1 September 2023.

      • This offer excludes members taking up Collection Club membership and existing members upgrading to Collection Club status.
      • The membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership loading system by no later than 31 May 2023 in order to qualify.

      • Applicable joining fee applies.

The membership will revert to its original product membership rates in respect of fees for 1 September 2023 onwards.

      • New joiners (hereinafter referred to as “members”) taking up an adult 1 or 2 year membership at Virgin Active George or Virgin Active Northgate from 1 to 31 May 2023 (both dates included) will receive 2 months on us, i.e. June and July 2023.
      • Pay the applicable joining / activation fee due.
      • No May 2023 pro-rata membership fees are payable. (no pro-rata fee is due)
      • No access card / device fees are payable for joiners in May.
      • The members’ first debit order will be for fees in respect of August 2023.
      • Virgin Active will not debit qualifying members in respect of membership fees for June and July 2023.
      • If the member’s chosen debit order date is not the 1st of the month, then the debit order for the membership fees for August 2023 will run on the specified date in July 2023 as per the membership agreement.
      • Members paying cash upfront, not via debit order, will pay for 12 months upfront and receive the remainder of May 2023 on us. They will also receive an additional 2 months of membership for free, added to the end of their contract period, provided they meet the qualifying criteria.
      • The relevant membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership system by no later than 31 May 2023.
      • This offer is not applicable to short term, 3-month, complimentary, Vitality Legacy Club, Virgin Active staff or tenant memberships.
      • No free smoothie applies to these joiners.
      • This offer will only apply if the member’s Virgin Active account is in good standing and not in arrears.
      • The member’s contract must not be cancelled or terminated within the residual cooling-off period or the initial commitment period stipulated in the membership contract, in order to qualify for the free months.

      • New joiners taking up a membership at Virgin Active George or Virgin Active Northgatefrom 1 to 31 May 2023 (both dates inclusive), in terms of an adult 1 year Vitality membership, pay the applicable activation fees and no access card fees in May 2023 and only start paying membership fees in respect of the month of August 2023, i.e.  new joiners will receive 2 months on us, i.e. June and July 2023.
      • No May 2023 pro-rata membership fees are payable.

      Referral campaign: Refer a friend who joins Virgin Active in May 2023 and receive a 50% discount off your monthly fee for one month.

       

      • Existing adult members at 30 April 2023 can refer a friend and if the friend joins in April then they as existing members will receive either 50% off their June fees (if friend joins before 15 May) or 50% off July fees if their friend joiners between 16 to 31 May 2023.
      • Members can refer as many friends as they like and for each friend that joins, they receive another 50% off the membership fees into the months ahead.
      • The friend must join on an Adult one or two year membership type in order to qualify.
      • Only one member can benefit from one new joiner, eg if two members refer the same person, the one that first referred will be the one to receive the 50% discount.
      • Applicable to members at Collection Club as well as Clubs in Namibia and Botswana.

       

       

       

       

      Exclusions from these promotional offers:

       

       

      • These offers are not applicable to: (i) intergrades (i.e. upgrades, downgrades and/or interclub transfers), or (ii) any changes occurring within the same/existing membership contract.
      • These offers are not applicable to members joining via a short term, complimentary, Virgin Active staff or tenant membership.
      • All Junior Memberships (e.g. Under 18 and Club V / Club V Max membership products) will not qualify for these offers.
      • Members aged 14 to 17 years of age joining on the Youth products, do not qualify for these offers except for the free smoothie offer which is applicable to them.
      • Members upgrading to Virgin Active Collection Clubs receive the rest of the month on us and a smoothie.
      • These offers are excluded from membership conversions of any kind if a member’s prior membership is still within the commitment period of the prior contract.
      • Members who have had a prior membership at Virgin Active will need to have a clean membership history that was/is in good standing (i.e. no previous or current arrears and/or poor disciplinary record), in order to qualify for these offers.
      • If the member has cancelled their Virgin Active membership (for example, but not necessarily limited to, cancellation within the legally permitted cooling-off periods) then they will not be eligible for the free months.

      KAUAI /NU VIRGIN ACTIVE: Free Small Smoothie or Small Hot Drink Offer 

      Qualifying new adult joiners, taking up a 1- or 2-year membership at Virgin Active South Africa Clubs, excluding members joining at Virgin Active RED Clubs as well as VA George and VA Northgate in the month of June 2023 will receive a FREE small smoothie or a small hot drink. This will be transferred to the member in the form of a wiCode.

      The small smoothie/ small hot drink can be redeemed at any Kauai/ NU store by scanning the QR code or asking a cashier to manually enter the QR code.

      The below Kauai / Nu offer is available to qualifying new adult members joining Virgin Active South Africa between 1- 31 May 2023 (Includes 14 to 17 year olds joining on the Youth product).

      The member will be sent the wiCode to their own unique cell phone number provided on the membership agreement upon joining Virgin Active.

      The smoothie/ hot drink voucher will be valid for 7 consecutive days from date of their membership being authorized on the Virgin Active membership system.

      Members can redeem one small (350ml) Smoothie (drinks are listed below) or hot drink (drinks are listed below) at Kauai or NU.

      This offer excludes any Protein Smoothies, Superfood Smoothies or Raw Juices at Kauai.

      This offer excludes any Functional Blends, Power Juices & Green Juices at NU. Kids Smoothies (250ml) or Large (500ml) are not included in this offer.

       

      If the member wishes to add extra protein or collagen to their drink, this will be for the members own cost, i.e. any smoothie add on’s will be charged for at the normal menu price.

      Members joining in Namibia and Botswana will not receive this offer, refer to specific offer for these territories for May 2023 and these vouchers cannot be redeemed in Namibia or Botswana Kauai outlets or any other Kauai stores internationally.

       

      To redeem this offer, simply follow the next steps:

        • Look out for the wiCode code voucher which will be sent to your cell phone device via SMS
        • To redeem your wiCode in store, place your small Smoothie or small hot drink order at the till, open the SMS and scan the wiCode in order for the voucher to redeem on the transaction.
        • This wiCode cannot be redeemed through any Third Party delivery (Uber eats, Mr. D Foods, Bolt).
        • These vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash or used against any other Smoothie or Kauai or Nu special offer.

       

      Members can redeem their free small Smoothie or small hot drink at any Kauai or Nu store in South Africa (inside and outside Virgin Active), as well as the Kauai Food Truck. Stores with a limited menu offering include: All Kauai Checkers stores, Kauai Food Truck and selected Kauai Virgin Active gym stores. The Kauai menu offering might differ from store to store, depending on the store menu format.

      If a Kauai/ NU reward is redeemed at any Kauai/ NU store and a customer decides to cancel the order after the transaction has gone through, the QR code will be lost and no longer be available to redeem again.

      Kauai/ NU cannot be held liable for the non-redemption of any rewards voucher due to a customer missing the expiry date as indicated on the reward voucher or to a Kauai/ NU instore POS system being down due to loadshedding or any other internet connectivity issues.

      Any additions and substitutions are charged as per the normal menu price.

      • Between 1 – 31 May 2023 (both dates inclusive), Virgin Active invites parents to bring their child/children to Club-V or Club-V Max for 2 free visits.
      • This includes 2 free visits for the accompanying parent if they are not a Virgin Active member.

       

      If the parent is not a current Virgin Active member:

      First visit:

      • Parents who are not current Virgin Active members, arriving at the club, will be required to complete a guest register process for themselves and their child/ren.
      • Parents must bring their ID document with them.
      • Once inside the club, parents May bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in there.

      Second visit:

      • Parents who are not Virgin Active members, bringing their child/ren for their second visit, can enter the club for the 2nd time and final time using their ID.
      • Parents will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon entering the club, as well as the guest register for themselves.
      • Once inside the club, parents May bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in.

       

      If the parent is a current Virgin Active member:

      First visit:

      • Parents who are current Virgin Active members, arriving at the club, will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon club entry.
      • Once inside the club, parents May bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in.

       

      Second visit:

      • Parents who are Virgin Active members, bringing their child/ren for their second visit, will be required to complete a disclaimer for their child/ren upon club entry.
      • Once inside the club, parents May bring their child/ren to the Club-V facility and sign them in.

       

      Adult, Club-V and U14 offer – Swim Assessment

      Join Virgin Active in May 2023 and qualify for a free Swim Assessment: 

      • All members joining at select Virgin Active Health Clubs in May 2023, qualify for a free Swim Assessment conducted by the resident Swim Coach to assess the members level of swimming competency, and advise on coaching required to improve the members swimming level. 
      • This offer is available to all new Adult members as well as children joining on U14 and Club-V/Club-V Max membership products. 
      • The list of the 128 participating Clubs is attached. 
      • The resident Swim Coach will contact all new joiners and set up a time for the complimentary appointment. 
      • The member will be required to swim in this session and the entire session will last around 20 to 30 minutes. 

      Mother’s Day promotion: Join Virgin Active between 8 to 14 May 2023 (both dates included) and join your child(ren) and they receive the rest of the year on us.

      • New joiners (parents) taking up any Virgin Active adult membership between 8 to 14 May 2023 (Both dates inclusive) and joining their child or children at the same time, the children get the rest of the year on us, i.e. June, July, August, September, October, November and Decembers membership fees are on us, start paying in respect of January 2024 for these children’s membership.
      • This includes children joining up on Club-V or Club-V Max memberships.
      • This includes children who are joining up on an u14 0 – 7 years or 8 – 13 years membership.
      • This includes children who are joining up via a corporate wellness scheme programme.
      • This includes children who join at Clubs in Namibia and Botswana
      • This excludes children joining up on the following products, i.e. the Youth product for 14-17 year olds and Collection Club memberships.
      • The parent can enjoy this benefit for all their children, who qualify, joining up in this period, i.e. not limited to one child only.
      • No free smoothie applies to the children’s membership.
