New Joiner Promotions: March 2024 Terms and Conditions

Join Virgin Active between 1 and 31 March 2024 (both dates included), download the VA APP and train at Virgin Active 4 times per month, be in good standing and get up to 4 months of membership fees on us:

  • New joiners (hereinafter referred to as “members”) taking up a Virgin Active membership in March 2024 will enjoy up to 4 months on us, provided they meet the following qualifying criteria:
    • Joining on an adult 1- or 2-year membership (including Youth 14–17-year-olds) in South Africa between 1 and 31 March 2024 (both dates included); and
    • Downloading the Virgin Active APP (VA APP) onto their smartphone device within 30 days of joining and keep this app on their device for the duration of their membership.
    • Training a minimum of 4 times on separate days each calendar month in the required period * see detailed cut-off dates,
    • And their Virgin Active membership account must be in good standing.
  • For example, join in March 2024 on a 12-month membership, download the VA APP and train 4 times in April, May, and June, be in good standing and you get July on us… continue the pattern of training 4 times per month and membership account being in good standing and get November 2024, March 2025 and July 2025 on us.
  • If the member does not download the VA APP within 30 days of joining, they forfeit the promotion in its entirety.
  • Members paying cash up front, not via debit order, will pay for 12 / 24 months upfront and receive an additional 4 months of membership for free, added to the end of their contract period, only after their initial 12 months and only if they have met the required training criteria and downloaded the VA APP.
  • Members joining on a 12-month contract will have a 16-month initial membership period and during this period will have every 4th month on us provided they meet the criteria up for to 4 months.
  • Members joining on a 24-month contract will have a 28-month initial membership period and during this period will have every 4th month on us for up to 4 months.
  • The members Virgin Active membership account must be in good standing for them to qualify for this campaign.
  • If the member does not train 4 times in a month, then they no longer qualify for the next free month, however, they can come back into the campaign if they catch up their training. For example, the member could miss the 4-x training requirement in June and therefore miss out in July being for free, but they could train 4 x in July, August, September, October and then get November on us etc.
  • Only applicable to joiners at Virgin Active Clubs in South Africa.

 

OR if you are joining on a Virgin Active Premier membership between 1 and 31 March 2024 (both dates included), you can choose this option instead of the above 4 months on us, i.e. Be in good standing and get a 25% discount on monthly membership fees for your first 12 months of membership:

  • Joining on an adult 1- or 2-year Premier membership in South Africa between 1 and 31 March 2024 (both dates included);
  • And receive a 25% discount on your first 12 months of membership fees.
  • Not applicable to members joining on Premier Select or Premier Youth products.
  • The members Virgin Active membership account must be in good standing for the member to enjoy the 25% discount on membership fees in your first 12 months of membership, if membership is not in good standing, the 25% discount falls away entirely.
  • Members paying cash up front, not via debit order, will pay for 12 / 24 months upfront and receive an additional 2 months of membership for free, added to the end of their contract period.
  • No training requirements associated with this offer and the member does not have to download the VA APP.
  • Members cannot get both offers, i.e., the 4 months on us offer as well as the less 25% offer. Member needs to choose between one of the campaigns.
  • Only applicable to joiners at Virgin Active Clubs in South Africa.

Join Virgin Active in Namibia or Botswana and get a month on us:

 

  • New joiners (hereinafter referred to as “members”) taking up a Virgin Active membership in March 2024 at a club in Namibia (VA Maerua Mall or VA Kleine Kuppe) or in Botswana (VA Airport Junction) will enjoy a month on us, provided they meet the following qualifying criteria:
    • Joining on an adult 1- or 2-year membership (including Youth 14–17-year-olds) between 1 and 31 March 2024 (both dates included); and
    • that their Virgin Active membership account is in good standing at debit order cut-off in April 2024 in order to get May 2024 on us.
  • For example, join in March 2024 on a 12 or 24-month membership and be in good standing by the time we do the debit order cut-off for May and you get May 2024 on us…
  • Members paying cash up front, not via debit order, will pay for 12 / 24 months upfront and receive an additional 1 month of membership for free, added to the end of their contract period.
  • The members Virgin Active membership account must be in good standing for them to qualify for this campaign.
  • There are no training or VA APP requirements in order to qualify for this campaign.

 

General clauses applicable to campaigns applicable in March 2024:

  • Pro-rata membership fees will not be payable for March 2024, i.e. February is on us.
  • No access card / device fees are payable for joiners in March 2024
  • Joining fees are applicable.
  • The members’ first debit order will be for fees in respect of April 2024.
  • The members’ Virgin Active membership account must be in good standing for them to qualify for the campaign.
  • If the member’s chosen debit order date is not the 1st of the month, then the debit order for the membership fees for April 2024 will run on the specified date in March 2024 as per the membership agreement.
  • If the members Virgin Active membership account is not in good standing on or by the debit order cut-off date, then they no longer qualify.
  • The relevant membership needs to be active and authorized on Virgin Active’s membership system by no later than 31 March 2024.
  • These offers are not applicable to short term, 3-month, complimentary, Vitality Legacy Club, Virgin Active staff, or tenant memberships.
  • Existing members upgrading to Collection Club status qualify for the 4 months on us offer, as well as new joiners at Collection Clubs.
  • These offers will only apply if the member’s Virgin Active account is in good standing and not in arrears.
  • The first 2 campaigns are not applicable to new joiners in Namibia and Botswana, only available to new joiners in South Africa, the 3rd campaign is specifically aimed at members joining in Namibia and Botswana.
  • These offers also apply to corporate members and those joining via wellness programmes including Discovery Vitality.
  • Discovery Vitality members are subject to confirmation of valid Discovery Vitality membership, Visit discovery.co.za to join Vitality.
  • The member’s contract must not be cancelled or terminated within the residual cooling-off period, or the initial commitment period stipulated in the membership contract, in order to qualify for the on-going free months or discount.
  • If the member cancels within their initial period, then the cancellation fee is calculated upon the value of the remaining instalments.
  • These promotional offers cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate.
  • Facilities and group classes may differ from Club to Club.

 

Exclusions from these promotional offers:

  • Except for Collection Club upgrades and conversions, outside of the initial period, no existing member can qualify for this promotion.
  • These offers are not applicable to members joining via a short term, complimentary, Virgin Active staff, or tenant membership.
  • Junior Memberships (e.g., 7-13- and Club V / Club V Max membership products) do NOT qualify for these offers.
  • Only Adult members over the age of 18 qualify for these offers, except for the Youth 14-17 year olds who do qualify.
  • These offers are excluded from membership conversions of any kind if a member’s prior membership is still within the commitment period of the prior contract.
  • Members who have had a prior membership at Virgin Active will need to have a clean membership history that was/is in good standing (i.e., no previous or current arrears and/or poor disciplinary record), to qualify for these offers.
  • If the member has cancelled their Virgin Active membership (for example, but not necessarily limited to, cancellation within the legally permitted cooling-off periods) then they will not be eligible for the discounted / free months.
  • These promotional offers cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate.
  • Facilities and group classes may differ from Club to Club.
  • Should a member elect to “freeze” (i.e., suspend) their membership contract while this promotional campaign is running, the discounted / free months will cease and not be carried over.
