Invite a friend Terms and Conditions.

Existing Virgin Active members refer a friend via the Virgin Active APP and get a free month:

  • Existing Virgin Active members who refer a friend who joins Virgin Active will receive one month free of charge, subject to the following terms and conditions set out below (*see exceptions for Collection Club below).
  • Eligibility: (see exclusions below)
    • Existing Member: This offer only applies to adult Virgin Active Members:
      • who have an active 1 year- or 2-year paying membership approved and showing as such on the Virgin Active member database;
      • who are in good standing with Virgin Active and account is not in arrears; and
      • in South Africa, Botswana or Namibia.
    • Referred Friend(s) must:
      • Not be an existing member with Virgin Active (this offer does not apply to any upgrading, downgrading or transferring of any existing membership);
      • Sign up for a 1 year- or 2-year Virgin Active adult, or youth 18-23 years membership type in South Africa, Botswana or Namibia; and
      • Successfully completed their first monthly debit order.
  • Exclusions: The following members and membership types are excluded from this offer (for either or both the Existing Member and Referred Friend):
    • Members under 18 years old, or Club-V joiners; and
    • Short term, 3-month, complimentary, Virgin Active staff or tenant membership type.
  • Referral Process:
    • Referrals must be made via the VA APP, email link or website portal in order to qualify.
    • Only one Existing Member may benefit from a single referral. If multiple Existing Members refer the same friend, then the first Existing Member to refer them (as determined by Virgin Active in its sole and absolute discretion should this be in dispute) will receive the free month. Once the new member has joined, no subsequent claims of a referral for this member will qualify for this offer.
    • There is no maximum limit to the number of Referred Friends that an Existing Member can refer and free months that an Existing Member can receive.
  • Additional conditions:
    • Once the Referred Friend has joined, both the new joiner/Referred Friend and Existing Member need to have a successful debit order take place. Thereafter, the Existing Member will qualify for a free month, subject to the remaining terms set out herein.
    • The Referred Friend’s membership contract must not be subsequently cancelled or terminated within the residual cooling-off period in order for the referring Existing Member to qualify for the free month.
  • *Collection Club Existing Members:
    • Existing Collection Club Members will get a free month for referring a friend who joins at a Collection Club, unless that Referred Friend is an existing member upgrading to a Collection Club.
    • If the Referred Friend joins at a non-Collection Club, then the Existing Collection Club Member will either get 50% off one month’s membership fee or an 15 extra days added to the end of their Collection Club contract period free of charge (as set out more fully below).
  • Existing Members receive a free month of membership (*see exceptions for Collection Club below) as follows:
    • Debit order: Members who have monthly debit orders for their qualifying membership contracts will receive a free month once all the conditions of this offer have been met, which will reflect as a credit to their account equivalent to their monthly membership fee payable for that month (*Unless the Existing Member is a Collection Club member whose Referred Friend joined a non-Collection Club, then that Existing Collection Club member will received a credit for 50% of their monthly membership fee payable for that month, as applicable, once all the conditions of this offer have been met). In other words, the free month will reflect as a credit to the Existing Member’s account which will be calculated according to the membership fee payable for the month that they qualify for this offer. This credit cannot be used to write off arrears or for any other reason, nor exchanged for cash, nor any other rebate. The Existing Member cannot elect or request which month they wish to receive free of charge. This free month will be allocated (at Virgin Active’s sole discretion) once all the conditions of this offer have been met and consequently this free month may coincide with a month during which the Existing Member is already benefiting from another Virgin Active campaign or offer.
    • Cash upfront: Members who have paid cash upfront for their qualifying membership contract will receive one free month that will be added to the end of your membership term (i.e., an additional month, free of charge will apply) (*Unless the Existing Member is a Collection Club member whose Referred Friend joined a non-Collection Club, then the Existing Collection Club member will have 15 calendar days added to the end of their membership term). The Existing Member cannot request a refund of one month’s membership fee already paid.
    • The Existing Member will receive one month free of charge as set out above, and nothing in these terms and conditions entitles Existing Members to claim any amounts from Virgin Active and Virgin Active is not liable for any amounts.
  • The new joiner / Referred Friend may receive any benefits from any other campaign running that month for new joining members.
  • Unless expressly stated otherwise in these Terms and Conditions, membership upgrades, downgrades and/or transfers of any nature are expressly excluded from this campaign.
  • This promotional offer cannot be exchanged for cash or some other rebate.
  • This campaign is applicable in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
  • Virgin Active reserves the right to amend the Terms and Conditions of this offer and / or campaign at any time, with or without notice, and at our sole discretion.
